It is possible for U of T students to live in off-campus housing.
Student Housing & Residence Life and the St. George Student Housing Service provide listings of rooms, apartments and houses which are available for students to rent. On average, single rooms with a shared kitchen and bathroom cost $450-$600 per month. Student Housing & Residence Life and the International Student Centre cannot make any arrangements or reservations for your accommodations but will assist you when you arrive at the university. This service is free for all students to use as a method of finding residence off-campus. It is the students’ responsibility to contact the landlord, inspect the premises, and select the accommodation that will best serve his/her needs.
The following websites also provide off-campus housing listings, but they have no affiliation with the University, and the listings are not necessarily student focused:
NOTE: For students who want to live off-campus, please make sure that you obtain rental receipts from your landlord for income tax purposes. Also be sure to have your lease agreement inspected by Student Housing & Residence Life prior to signing.
